Shops and shop windows
Put a code in the window or on the shelf edge that gives passers-by a reason to come in today.
A coupon QR code opens a mobile coupon page with your discount code, a copy button, the expiry date and your terms. Print it on flyers, packaging or receipts, and change the offer at any time without reprinting.
Coupon codes are dynamic, so you create them in your Qdestera account – the free plan is enough to start.
Give the coupon a title such as “15% off your next visit”, add a short description and enter the code customers should use at checkout or show to your staff.
Pick a valid-until date, write your terms and, if you like, set a maximum number of scans. Add a badge in one of four styles – discount, sale, gift or new – with your own short text.
Style the QR code with your colors and logo, add a frame with a call to action and download it as PNG, SVG, JPG or PDF for print.
A coupon QR code is a dynamic QR code that opens a hosted coupon page instead of a website. On the phone it looks like a paper voucher: a highlighted badge, the offer, the coupon code in large type and a button that copies the code to the clipboard.
Customers can show the page at the till or paste the code into your online shop. Because the offer lives on a page rather than in the printed pattern, you can fix a mistake, extend a deadline or swap the discount while the printed code stays exactly the same.
Only the title and the code are required. Everything else is optional, so a coupon can be as simple or as detailed as the offer needs.
The code appears in large, easy-to-read type. One tap copies it, ready to paste into a checkout field or a booking form.
A colored badge makes the value obvious at a glance. Choose the style – discount, sale, gift or new – and write your own text, such as “2 for 1”.
The coupon shows its last valid day and how many days are left. After that date it is marked as expired and the copy button disappears.
Optionally set a maximum number of scans. The coupon shows how many remain out of the total and is marked as used up once the limit is reached.
Explain the offer in a sentence and add terms such as a minimum spend, participating stores or exclusions.
Anywhere a printed or on-screen offer should lead to a purchase, a visit or a repeat order.
Put a code in the window or on the shelf edge that gives passers-by a reason to come in today.
Print a return-visit offer on the receipt or the takeaway bag, or place it next to your QR code menu.
Add a reorder discount to the box or an insert card, so the next purchase starts with a scan.
Hand out a show-only discount on badges, flyers or stand displays that expires when the event ends.
Make print advertising measurable: scan statistics show which mailing, district or placement responds.
A code printed on paper is fixed the moment it leaves the printer. A coupon QR code keeps the offer under your control.
| Printed code | Coupon QR code | |
|---|---|---|
| Change the offer after printing | No | Yes |
| Marked as expired after the end date | No | Yes |
| Optional usage limit with remaining count | No | Yes |
| One-tap copy for online checkout | No | Yes |
| Scan statistics by date and location | No | Yes |
| Usable without a smartphone | Yes | No |
The coupon page shows your code and your rules; it is not connected to your cash register or your online shop. Staff still apply the discount at the till, and a code for online use must also exist in your shop system. The expiry date and the usage limit control what the coupon page shows, not what your checkout accepts.
The usage limit counts scans, not purchases. If one customer opens the coupon twice, that counts twice. For strict one-per-customer offers, pair the coupon with single-use codes in your shop system or a simple rule your team can check.
A practical check at the till: ask customers to show the coupon page on their screen. Expired and used-up coupons carry a clear stamp, so your team can see at a glance whether the offer is still valid.
Scan statistics are still valuable: you see how often the coupon is opened over time, from which countries and cities and on which operating systems. That makes it easy to compare flyers, stores or campaigns – read more about QR code analytics.
Put the benefit in the badge and the title – “15% off”, “Free dessert” – and keep the conditions for the terms.
A clear valid-until date creates urgency. If the campaign runs well, you can extend it later from your dashboard.
Tell staff which code to expect and how to apply it, so nobody is left waiting at the till.
If the code is meant for your online shop, create exactly the same code there before the flyers go to print.
Use a frame with “Scan for 15% off” and print it large enough for the viewing distance – our print size calculator helps.
When the promotion is over, set the QR code to inactive or replace the offer with the next one.
Create a coupon QR code with a free account and change the offer whenever your promotion changes.
Sign up for free, choose the coupon type and enter the title, code, expiry date and terms. Then download the QR code – scanning it opens your coupon page.
Coupon codes are dynamic and need an account. You can start on the free plan without a credit card; plan limits apply.
After the valid-until date, the page marks the coupon as expired and hides the copy button. Set a later date if you want to run the offer again.
Yes. Set a maximum number of scans; the page shows how many remain and marks the coupon as used up at the limit. Each scan counts, including repeat scans by the same person.
No. The coupon page displays the code and your rules. Your staff or your shop system apply the discount.
Yes. Edit the title, code, date or terms in your dashboard, and the printed QR code shows the updated coupon.
Yes. Design the QR code with your colors, your logo and a frame such as “Scan me”, and choose one of four badge styles for the coupon.
You see the number of scans over time, by country and city and by operating system. Unique visitors are not counted separately.
Yes. When a campaign ends, replace the title, code and date with the next offer. The code on your packaging or window then opens the new coupon, so one print run lasts all season.
Shops, restaurants and cafés, packaged goods brands and event organisers use them most. See retail and packaging solutions for more ideas.
