Business cards
The classic: a small code on the back so your details reach the phone, not just the wallet.
Put a vCard QR code on your business card and people save your details to their phone in one scan – no typing, no misspelled email addresses. Start with a free static code, or create a dynamic contact page with your photo that you can update at any time.
Enter your content, pick a style and download your QR code.
Have your contact details ready. Creating the code takes a minute; placing it on your card design takes one more.
Add your first and last name, company, phone, email and website. In your account you can also add a job title, an address and – for dynamic codes – a photo.
A static code stores the contact card inside the pattern. A dynamic code stores a short link to a contact page that you can edit whenever your details change.
Send the SVG to your designer or printer for razor-sharp results, then test a proof with an iPhone and an Android phone before ordering the full run.
vCard is the standard format for electronic contact cards – the same .vcf files that phones, email programs and address books exchange. A vCard QR code carries such a contact card. When someone scans it, the phone shows a preview of the contact and offers to save it, with every field in the right place.
That is why it is often called a business card QR code or a digital business card. Instead of typing a name, a mobile number and an email address from a small printed card, your new contact taps once and your details are in their address book, spelled exactly the way you wrote them.
Current iPhones and most Android phones read vCard QR codes with the built-in camera. On older devices any QR scanner app does the job.
Both save your details in one scan. The dynamic version adds a photo, a designed page and the freedom to change things later.
| Static vCard | Dynamic vCard | |

| Contact saved to the phone from the scan | Yes | Yes |
| Profile photo | No | Yes |
| Contact page with three templates and your accent color | No | Yes |
| Edit details after printing | No | Yes |
| Scan statistics | No | Yes |
| Works without any server | Yes | No |
A static code contains the contact card itself in vCard 3.0 format: name, company, job title, phone, email, website and address, depending on what you fill in. The free generator creates it in your browser session without storing what you type, and the code never expires.
Static codes cannot hold a photo. Even a small image is far larger than what fits in a QR code, so photos are reserved for the dynamic version. Every extra field also makes the pattern denser – on a small business card, stick to the details people really need.
A dynamic QR code points to a hosted contact page. You design it once and edit it whenever something changes.
Pick one of three layouts and set a single accent color; the page builds its color scheme from it so your card and your page look like they belong together.
Upload a profile photo. It appears on the contact page and in the contact file people save, which helps them remember who you are after a busy event.
Show the contact page with an “Add to contacts” button that downloads a .vcf file, or skip the page so the scan downloads the .vcf directly.
New phone number, new role, new company address? Update the details in your dashboard and every card you have already handed out shows the new information.
Scans are counted by date, country, city and operating system, so you can see whether the cards from a trade fair were ever used. See QR code analytics.
You don't have to choose. A printed card is a physical reminder of the meeting; the QR code on it moves your details onto the phone, so they survive even if the card gets lost.
A dynamic code also saves the cards in your drawer when you change jobs or the office moves: the printed text may age, but the code always opens the current page. If you don't print cards at all, show the code on your last slide, your stand screen or your email signature – people can scan it straight from the screen.

Print it on your badge or stand so visitors save you in seconds, even in a crowded hall.
Let visitors save the office contact or the account manager's details while they wait.
Put your card on signs, brochures and listing sheets so prospects can reach you after the viewing.
Create one dynamic vCard per colleague, keep them in folders and let editors update them when people change roles.
End your presentation with your code so the audience can connect before they leave the room.
Keep the code at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) with a clear margin around it. The print size calculator helps if the code goes on something larger.
Each field adds data. If the code looks crowded, leave out the address or switch to a dynamic code, which only stores a short link.
Write your number with the country code, such as +44, so it dials correctly from abroad.
A few words such as “Scan to save my contact” tell people this is not just a link to your website.
Fill in first and last name in their own fields so contacts are sorted correctly on every phone.
Use your brand colors, but keep a dark code on a light background. Logos and frames are available in your account.

Enter your name, company, phone, email and website in the vCard generator above and download the code as SVG or PNG. Place it on your card design and test a proof before printing.
A vCard QR code saves your contact details directly to the phone's address book. A URL QR code only opens a web page, such as your portfolio.
Yes. Static vCard QR codes are free, carry no watermark and never expire. The dynamic contact page with a photo needs an account.
Only with a dynamic vCard. A photo is too large to fit inside a QR code, so it lives on the hosted contact page and in the downloaded contact file.
With a dynamic vCard, yes: edit your details in the dashboard and the printed code shows the new information. A static code has to be reprinted.
Current iPhones and most Android phones read it with the built-in camera and offer to save the contact. Older devices can use any QR scanner app.
A .vcf file is a contact card in vCard format. Phones and email programs open it and add the contact to the address book.
The free generator does not save what you type. For a dynamic vCard, your details are stored in your account so the contact page can be shown and edited.
A static vCard code never expires, because the details are inside the code. A dynamic code works as long as it is active in your account; you decide when to deactivate or archive it.
